Compare armv5tel and armv6hl Performance

From CDOT Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Project Purpose:

è To compare between armv5tel and armv6hl version of Fedora.

è To see how floating-point arguments are passed to functions

è Benchmark between armv5tel and armv6hl versions of the Fedora ARM software

How will I do it:

è Make two fedora virtual machines to simulate armv5tel and armv6hl mode.

è Access these machines to record performance and speed of each simulation mode.

o Install package, web browsing, word processing, run sample program.

è Try same record on actual ARM processor machines.

è Record and summarize all results

è Present result and give recommendation

What will I need:

è Actual armv5tel and armv6hl machines.

è Research armv5tel and armv6hl specification

è How Fedora will work in arm processor.

0.1 Proof of Concept:

--> List the applications to benchmark between armv5tel and armv6hl.

--> Test the applications in Intel based Virtual Machine.

--> Test the same applications in actual armv5tel machines.

0.2 Rough Results:

--> Test the same applications in armv6hl mode.

--> Test the difference between in each arm mode.

--> Confirm that there is a noticeable difference armv5tel to armv6hl.

0.3 Final Results:

--> Document the relative performance of armv5tel and armv7hl.

--> Summarized results of all collected data

--> Final recommendation
