Diogo and Kieran

This week

  • Figure out what OpenNebula is capable of, how hard it is to set up, perhaps go through one setup.
  • Read about iSCSI, check out OpenFiler, hopefully set it up, at least as a test if we don't yet have a dedicated box for the storage.
  • Test the local network speed, confirm it's close to Gbps.
  • Connect the two PCs into the local network.

Done

  • Verify that the two desktops we start with are working and capable of supporting virtualization.
  • Verify two of the network sockets work, and what the IP/subnet/DNS numbers to use are.
  • Get setup on the project blog, start posting on it.
  • Download and set up the latest CentOS, confirm kvm/libvirt/virt-manager work.

Andrew

This week

  • Arrange a visit to CloudDynamics for a tech demo.
  • Discuss the idea of weekly short conference calls to make sure we're on the right track.
  • Ask Peter about writing on the wall.
  • Print the network diagram.
  • Ask Dawn about moving the mac somewhere else.
  • Get more network cables.
  • Talk to Diana about paperwork.

Done

  • Get at least two more boxes (better 3). On order due week of the 12th of Nov.
  • Talk to Jordan / Chris T. about Trac on monday or tuesday.
  • Figure out the workspace network settings.
  • Figure out whether a gigabit switch is necessary to support running VMs with the disk on another machine and figure out what it would cost.
  • Obtain 8-port switch and 8 cables. On order due week of the 12th of Nov.
  • Obtain a port-forwarding-capable NAT router.
  • Meet with David G. about project plan.
  • Ask about keys for cabinets

Postponed

  • Get a KVM switch supporting at least two inputs (3 or 4 even better).
