The Fedora Project is a community of contributors from around the world who work with each other to advance the interests of the free culture movement. The Fedora Project develops and maintains a number of software packages, and is best known for producing the Fedora linux distribution.

A number of Seneca students and faculty are involved with the Fedora Project, and many courses in the Seneca School of Computer Studies use the Fedora linux distribution. Students in the LUX system administration program and the SBR600 Software Build and Release course are active participants in the Fedora community.

Red Hat provided grant funding during the 2008-2009 academic year to support student participation in the Fedora Community.
