The Eclipse projects are hosted by [http://www.eclipse.org/org/ Eclipse Foundation] which is a not-for-profit, member supported corporation.
 
  
Eclipse is also an open source community whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle. Eclipse software is written in Java and can be executed on a wide variety of systems.
 
  
A number of Seneca students and faculty are involved with the Eclipse Project, and some courses in the Seneca [http://scs.senecac.on.ca School of Computer Studies] use the Eclipse as an IDE tool. Students in the [http://zenit.senecac.on.ca/wiki/index.php/DPS909_and_OSD600_Winter_2009_Eclipse_WTP_Weekly_Schedule Eclipse Open source courses] are working alongside Seneca professor [[User:JAnastasiade|Jordan Anastasiade]] within the Eclipse community on [http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/ Eclipse WPT] (Web Platform Tools). This work is centered in the [[OSD600]] and [[DPS909]] courses.
