Steps to follow before installing a new OS on DELL Precision 3630 boxes

  1. Boot Windows 10 and shrink the Windows partition using any disk utility (Windows 10 Open Disk Management recommended).
  2. Access the UEFI settings by pressing F12 right after booting. Go to Sata Operations and select AHCI .
  3. Install new OS.

Important

Switching to AHCI will prevent the machine from being able to boot Windows 10, so make sure you switch only when you are ready to install the new OS.
