Don't Be Afraid to Ask for Help

Most computer users are not very technical.

It is normal to feel intimidated about installing a new computer operating system, although the process of installing any operating system has become easier of the years. If you are not comforable installing an operating systems, it is good idea to ask someone that has experience to help you perform the install.

Operating System (Linux) Install Festivals

Although Seneca Computer Studies department no longer provides this service, there are many Linux Usergroups that perform Linux install festivals thoughout the year (usually for no charge). You would have to bring your computer system to the event, and then experienced Linux users (volunteers) would help to install the Linux operating system on your computer.

Usually, it is a good idea to back-up any important information on your computer as a precaution prior to the Linux install...
